The 3-Step Remote Workflow

File Preparation Guide

Stem Preparation & Export Guidelines To ensure a seamless remote workflow and a rapid turnaround on your project, please prepare your multi-tracks according to the following industry-standard studio specifications: 1. Reference Track Requirements (Crucial) •Commercial Production Reference: Please provide the name and artist of 1 or 2 commercially released tracks that represent the ideal sonic target for this project. This can be a previously released song by the artist that you want to improve upon, or a track by an influential band of your choosing. This gives me a clear benchmark for guitar mid-range, vocal dominance, and overall low-end weight. •Rough Project Mix: Always include a rough stereo bounce of your current arrangement balance so I can immediately understand your initial creative intent and panning choices. 2. File Format & Resolution •Bit Depth / Sample Rate: 24-bit or 32-bit float WAV files at their native tracking sample rate (44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, or 96kHz). •Consolidated Audio: All audio stems must be consolidated to start at the exact same absolute timestamp (Session Start / Bar 1, Beat 1) so they align perfectly when imported into any DAW. 3. Session Hygiene & Preparation •Bypass Processing: Turn off all non-creative mix bus compression, loudness limiters, and master channel processing before exporting. Keep essential creative effects (like specific filtering, delays, or unique modulation) printed directly to the track. •D.I. Tracks Required: For modern metal and rock projects, please include the raw, clean D.I. WAV tracks for all electric guitars and bass alongside your amped/plugin reference tracks. This allows for high-end re-amping or advanced digital tone profiling if required. •MIDI Components: If your arrangement utilises virtual instruments, synth layers, or programmed orchestral components, please provide both the rendered stereo audio WAV stem and the raw MIDI file. 4. Organisation & Session Documentation •Clear Naming Conventions: Label files cleanly and logically (e.g., Kick_In.wav, Snare_Top.wav, Bass_DI.wav, L_Rhythm_Git.wav, Lead_Vox.wav). •Project Meta-Data: Please include a simple text file (ReadMe.txt) inside your project folder detailing the exact tempo (BPM), time signature changes, and key of the song.
